Gmail Password Recovery
Password Recovery for Google is a tool that will search your PC for saved Gmail passwords, extract them, decrypt and decode them and display them in a readable format. The following applications are known to store Gmail passwords: Google Talk, Gmail Notifier, Google Desktop, Picasa, Google Photos Screensaver. This tool will only work if you are able to login automatically without entering your password with one the Google applications listed above. This is not a Gmail password hack tool!
Gmail password can also be stored by your browser, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Our software searches for Gmail passwords saved by these applications but the saved passwort is not always the correct one (could be the old one) and we give instructions lower on this page on how to check whether you have the correct Gmail password saved in your browser.
What you can do to recover your lost or forgotten Gmail password
It's not the end of the world if you lost or forgot your Gmail password. Here is the list of places where your Gmail password could possibly be recovered:
Recovering Gmail password through the official method
Try the official password retrieval page:
You will need to enter your username and type in the characters shown on the displayed image as a next step. Google will ask you to answer your security question or select an option to send password reset link to alternative email address if it was saved in your account settings.
It will be possible to reset your Gmail password only if you remember the answer to your security question or you have stated alternative email address in your account settings and you have access to this alternative email address.
If you don't remember the answer to your security question and you didn't set your alternative email address in the account settings (or you don't have access to the alternative email address anymore) there's still a chance that one of the Google applications installed on your computer stores your Gmail password.
Recovering Gmail password from one of the Google applications
Our Gmail password retrieval tool Password Recovery for Google decodes and shows saved Gmail passwords from all Google applications. We have prepared detailed tutorials on how to check if the Gmail password is saved by one of the Google applications and how to get Gmail password from these applications:
Recovering Gmail passwords saved by browsers
Your browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) is also able to save your Gmail password.
To see if your Gmail password is saved by Internet Explorer, open Gmail (go to www.gmail.com).
It doesn't necessarily mean that your Gmail password is saved in Internet Explorer if you are redirected straight to your Gmail inbox. Click on the Sign Out button if you appear in your Inbox:
You will see the Gmail login screen:
Double-click inside the Username input field. This will bring up a list of all saved accounts:
Select the account for which you would like to restore your Gmail password. If there are asterisks or dots in the password field, click on the Sign in button:
If you manage to login into Gmail without entering your password then your correct Gmail password is saved in Internet Explorer and can be retrieved using our tool. Download and install Password Recovery for Google :
On the last page of the installation wizard make sure the checkbox called Run Password Recovery for Google is ticked:
Click on the Finish button. This will bring up the recovery screen:
Click on the Recover Password button to see your Gmail passwords revealed:
You should now see all Gmail passwords saved by Internet Explorer. It's a good time to login to Gmail, go to account settings and change Gmail password to something you can remember (make sure it's not too simple for the hackers to guess!).
There is no need to crack Gmail password stored by Firefox! For Mozilla Firefox you can easily find your saved Gmail password by going to Tools in the top menu and selecting Options. In the Options window select Security icon and click on the Saved Passwords... button. You will find all passwords saved by Firefox shown on the screen (click Show Passwords button).
We have also prepared a short video on Gmail password recovery and a short description of all encryption algorithms that Google use in their applications to encrypt and decrypt Gmail Account and Google Account passwords.
